
Dr. Christos Karakolis
Dr. Christos Karakolis is a Professor of New Testament at the Department of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He has studied Theology at the University of Thessaloniki and specialized in the field of New Testament Studies at the Universities of Regensburg and Tübingen.
Karakolis has been active as a visiting scholar at the Universities of Bern, Munich, and Regensburg, as well as at the Institute for Orthodox-Christian Studies in Cambridge, UK. He has served as a member of the editorial board of the journal New Testament Studies (Cambridge University Press) and also as a member of the steering committee of Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (SNTS).
Karakolis is currently a member of the editorial board of the New Testament critical editions Novum Testamentum Graece (Nestle-Aland) and UBS Greek New Testament, as well as of the advisory board of the journal Early Christianity (Mohr Siebeck, Tübingen). He is a member of the administrative boards of the Academy for Theological Studies in Volos and of the Hellenic Bible Society.
Karakolis’ research interests are focused mainly on the Gospel of John, Pauline literature, New Testament textual criticism and New Testament Hermeneutics from an Orthodox-Christian perspective.
